premiered in march 2007, impression west lake is presented in west lake, hangzhou, in an arena which has retractable seating for 1,496 people, two vip boxes and two chartered boats for 105 people altogether, and where necessary, 100 temporary seats on the platform. at night the location is a theatre, while in the daytime it is a large-area wooden waterfront platform without least traces of performance there. in the performance area in the lake, there are special lighting devices installed above and under water to satisfy the lighting needs of the stage and background. the actors and actresses perform in mist on the stage erected in water, recounting the thousand-year-old love story, which perhaps is just what the viewer experienced in the past.
